Beef in Beer
This is one of the simplest dishes to make. Incredibly good value and produces meat so tender that it will melt in your mouth.
Serves 3 people
Ingredients
500g stewing steak
1 can of Bitter or Stout
5 carrots, peeled and sliced
200g mushrooms, sliced
2 onions, peeled and sliced
2 garlic gloves, sliced
1 tbsp salt
½ tbsp mustard
1 marrow bone - optional
Method
Brown the diced stewing steak on all sides in a hot frying pan for no longer than 1 minute. Add all the ingredients into a lidded casserole dish. Cook in a preheated oven at 180 degrees/gas mark 4 for 2 ½ to 3 hours. To really transform this dish, add a marrow bone and remove at the end of cooking.
